Robert LeFavi, Ph.D., CSCS, USAW received a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. from the Department of Health and Human Performance at Auburn University, AL, where he studied the effects of nutrition on psychological and physical factors in collegiate athletes, focusing his attention on weight loss. Dr. LeFavi has authored research articles in scientific journals ranging in fields from nutrition to sport science and psychology, and has made 40 regional, national or international professional presentations (including visiting scholar lectures).
Dr. LeFavi has published over 500 articles on health, nutrition, weight loss, sport science, sports medicine, and fitness in the popular press; his magazine publications have been translated into 7 different languages in 18 separate countries. In addition, he has also provided expert opinions to attorneys in cases involving ergogenic and anabolic drugs, has been quoted as an expert by many newspapers and magazines ranging from the New York Times to USA Today and Parade, and has been interviewed as an expert in sports medicine and nutrition by CNN News with Paula Zahn and CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. Presently, Dr. LeFavi, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Senior National Coach for USAW Weightlifting, is the department head and professor in the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University.
