Respiratory Therapy Program Recognized at Celebrate Together
During Georgia Southern University’s Celebrate Together last month, Respiratory Therapy faculty and students provided education to the community on the effects of smoking and Cystic Fibrosis management. Using pig lungs, students were able to demonstrate the effects of smoking and participants were given the opportunity to touch the lungs. Additionally, students provided a high frequency chest wall oscillator to participants giving them an opportunity to experience chest physical therapy through the use of an inflatable vest. While engaged in demonstrations, students discussed with participants each disease process and the effects the diseases have on the human body. The Respiratory Therapy program’s booth was recognized and awarded the most informative booth during Celebrate Together.
