With a Bachelor of Science with a major in communication sciences and disorders, you’ll learn how to work with patients with communication difficulties. You’ll study a wide range of subjects, from anatomy and physiology to audiology and sociocultural bases of communication.

Rehabilitation Sciences
With a Bachelor of Science with a major in rehabilitation sciences, you’ll learn the basics of neuroscience, pathophysiology and psychology. This program is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue graduate education in physical therapy, occupational therapy or sports medicine. You can tailor your degree with electives and earn minors or credentials in areas including neuroscience, psychology and gerontology.

Medical Laboratory Science Program
With a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science degree, you’ll develop the skills needed to work as a healthcare scientist. As a medical laboratory science student, you will train in various lab areas including hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry and urinalysis, and will be eligible to sit for the American Society of Clinical Pathology board exams. Choose from three options to complete your degree in medical laboratory science:
- Traditional Track Program: For students with little to no previous medical experience who want to pursue an undergraduate degree in medical laboratory science.
- Online Career Ladder: For students who currently work in the medical laboratory field and already hold a MLT degree with certifications in ASCP, AMT, AAB or military certification and want to work toward a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Fast Track: For students who hold a bachelor degree in biological sciences or chemical sciences and either work at an approved clinical/hospital site or are a resident of South Carolina. South Carolina residents may be eligible to receive tuition assistance and we will provide a list of potential clinical sites where you can complete your training.

Radiologic Sciences Program
The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree trains you in the science of administering radiation, ultrasound and magnetism to provide information for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries. Georgia Southern offers five concentrations within the baccalaureate degree leading to initial certification. These are: Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Sonography, Nuclear Medicine and Cardiovascular Interventional Science.
Radiologic Sciences Concentrations
Radiography
Get hands-on clinical experience and build on a foundation of physics, math and science to prepare for a high-tech career that uses radiation, magnetism and computers for imaging and medical diagnosis. You’ll also have the opportunity to pursue additional certifications in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) and Mammography.
Our degree program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the national standard for this profession.
A Bachelor Science in Radiologic Sciences with a concentration in Radiography prepares you for a variety of careers, including:
- Radiologic technologist
- Advanced Specialties
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist
- Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist
- Mammogram Technologist
Radiation Therapy
In Georgia Southern’s radiation therapy degree concentration program, you’ll gain experience in clinical rotations at clinics in Georgia and South Carolina, learning a wide variety of techniques and procedures from diverse oncology teams. Your degree will prepare you to work with the latest state-of-the-art technologies to accurately and safely administer daily radiation treatments to cancer patients.
Accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the radiation therapy degree concentration is open to students with no medical background as well as current radiographers seeking certification in radiation therapy.
Sonography
Our sonography degree concentration program — accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs — will train you in the latest sonography technology and prepare you to enter a growing career field as a certified sonographer. Using sound waves to examine organs, muscles and vascular structures, sonographers perform everything from obstetrics imaging to cardiac imaging.
Your coursework will cover everything from clinical settings, scanning techniques, invasive procedures and sonography specialties.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine technologists prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients for imaging or therapeutic purposes. Georgia Southern’s nuclear medicine degree concentration is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine and is one of less than 10 undergraduate programs of its kind in the country.
Incorporating physics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, you will learn the latest procedures and practices for the industry and gain clinical experience in general nuclear medicine, Computed Tomography (CT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET), making you eligible to be dually certified.
This program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine.
Cardiovascular Interventional Science
Georgia Southern University is home to the only accredited baccalaureate Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program in the United States. In this specialization, you will use sophisticated, state-of-the-art equipment as you work in interventional cardiology suites, cardiac cath labs, vascular hybrid suites and neurovascular arenas.
You’ll be prepared to assist in invasive cardiovascular settings, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that affect the cardiovascular system.
Georgia Southern’s CVIS program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
If you are already a certified radiologic sciences professional (RT), Georgia Southern offers two options to complete a bachelor’s degree:
Special Options Program: Individuals who are certified or eligible to sit for a certification exam in one area of the radiologic sciences may complete a bachelor’s degree while preparing for additional certification in either radiation therapy, nuclear medicine or sonography. This is a competitive program.
Online Bridge Program: Certified professionals may complete a bachelor’s degree either in a non-clinical capacity or while preparing to obtain additional clinical certification in an advanced radiography area (CT, MRI or mammography) .

Respiratory Therapy Program
With a Bachelor of Science major in respiratory therapy, you’ll be trained to diagnose, assess and manage patients with acute or chronic diseases or conditions affecting the heart or lungs, as well as the diagnosis and prevention of cardiopulmonary disease.
This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, and will give you the training and hands on skills to achieve the highest professional credentials available in respiratory therapy.
Certificate Degrees

Tactical Athlete Certificate
The Tactical Athlete Certificate is for active duty, national guard and reservists only and is comprised of three, online college courses aimed at teaching injury prevention principles in an effort to decrease injury risk and maximize physical performance. Total certificate is 9 credit hours and all credits can be applied towards a Bachelor of Science with a major Rehabilitation Sciences degree.
Graduate Degrees

Communication Sciences and Disorders
