Radiography Degree Concentration

With the Radiography degree concentration, you’ll get hands-on clinical experience and build on a foundation of physics, math and science to prepare for a high-tech career that uses radiation, magnetism and computers for imaging and medical diagnosis. You’ll also have the opportunity to pursue additional certifications in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), and mammography.
As a radiographer, you’ll aid physicians and radiologists in the diagnosis of fractures, ulcers, tumors, lesions and disease processes. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for the physical and mental well-being of patients undergoing radiographic examinations.
Clinical education courses will be taken during the last three semesters of the program and require that all students rotate through several different clinical sites to ensure equitable clinical opportunities. The radiography clinical sites are in and outside of the city of Savannah and in the South Carolina region (most within a 70- mile radius from the Armstrong Campus). Clinical rotations require 27-36 hours per week and students are responsible for all transportation. While some didactic courses are offered online in the last three semesters of the program, travel to campus will be required for didactic courses not offered online when the student is enrolled in clinical education courses.

The Department of Clinical Sciences anticipates that graduates of this program will seek the following professional state licenses or national certifications: Registered Radiographer, R.T. (R). and state licensure.
