Medical Laboratory Science: Online Fast-Track Program

Format: Online Program (open to South Carolina residents only)

The Medical Laboratory Science Online Fast-Track program is available to South Carolina residents who have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field. The program consists of an online didactic component and a training experience in a clinical laboratory. It provides students with a high-quality academic and professional environment. The program graduate will be able to satisfy eligibility requirements for a professional certification exam at the MLS level. Graduates of the Medical Laboratory Science program will qualify for employment in a variety of settings, and can progress within the clinical laboratory science field to education, supervision or management positions. Students in this track must maintain training support at an approved clinical facility while enrolled in the program. South Carolina students of this program are also eligible to receive tuition assistance, as well as clinical training support in some South Carolina hospitals.

Applications for the Fall 2020 MLT-MLS Online and SC/BS Fast Track cohort will open November 15, 2019 and close August 1, 2020. Admission to the program is open until all seats are filled. You may only apply to one program and there is a $95.00 application fee. If you apply to more than one program, the application with the earliest time and date will be the one that you will be considered for. If you apply to a second program, you will be charged an extra $95.00 fee that is non-refundable. Only apply if you will have all your prerequisites completed by the end of Summer 2020. The Medical Laboratory Science Online Fast-Track program is also available to students who have completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology or Chemistry.  Typically, students who apply to this track currently work in a hospital/clinical setting.  We will require a Statement of Support Form from the hospital/clinical site. Prior to admittance into the program the hospital/clinical site must be approved.  The program consists of an online didactic component and a training experience in an approved clinical laboratory.  This program provides students with a high-quality academic and professional environment. The program graduate will be able to satisfy eligibility requirements for a professional certification exam at the MLS level. Graduates of the Medical Laboratory Science program will qualify for employment in a variety of settings, and can progress within the clinical laboratory science field to education, supervision or management positions. Students in this track must maintain training support at an approved clinical facility while enrolled in the program.

Professional License Disclosure

The Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences anticipates that graduates of this program will seek the following professional state licenses or certifications: Medical Laboratory Scientist.

The Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences has determined that the required classes and educational activities of this online Career Ladder, Fast Track, and MLT-MLS academic program will qualify a graduate of this program to take the exam for a state license (or certificate) in Georgia or any other state or territory. For required disclosures on whether this program satisfies the license requirements of all states and territories for Medical Laboratory Scientist license or certificate, click to check the requirements of your state or territory.  https://ascls.org/advocacy-issues/licensure
