Sport and Exercise Psychology Program Hosts the Southeast Regional Association for Applied Sport Psychology Conference
The School of Health and Kinesiology’s sport and exercise psychology master’s program hosted the 2016 Southeast Regional Association for Applied Sport Psychology Conference on February 26-27 at Georgia Southern University. The two-day conference provided participants with a wide variety of topics presented in lectures, workshops, panels, and keynote addresses. The conference was highlighted by keynote speaker Andrea Wieland, Ph.D., who traveled to Georgia Southern University from the IMG Academy in Florida. Dr. Wieland discussed her journey and provided tips for students and professionals who are trying to begin their careers in sport psychology. Guest speaker and alumni of the sport and exercise psychology program, Ben Freakley, discussed his work with the military and provided encouragement and motivation to students who will be graduating in the future with their master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology.
Approximately 45 individuals from the southeast region of the United States who have a passion for the field of sport and exercise psychology attended the conference. Participants included undergraduate, graduate, and professionals in the field. Sponsors of the conference included the School of Health and Kinesiology and the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.
