Research
Dr. Barnhill’s primary line of research explores relationship development between employees and organizations. Applying psychological contract theory to sport-based organizational settings, Dr. Barnhill has examined employees’ expectations of their employers, the impact of various communication channels on relationship development, and the role of employees’ perceptions on attitudinal and behavioral outcomes. Dr. Barnhill’s secondary line of research examines impacts of teaching methods and curriculum design on learning outcomes of sport management students. Dr. Barnhill is an editorial board member for numerous academic journals including, the International Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Educational Journal, Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics, and Journal of Amateur Sport.
