Nutrition & Food Science Major

The nutrition and food science major is composed of three emphasis areas:
- Dietetics*-The dietetics curriculum includes advanced coursework in medical nutrition therapy, metabolic nutrition, quantity food systems administration, advanced food science, and community nutrition.
- Food Science/Food Systems Administration-The food science/food systems administration curriculum includes advanced coursework in food science, marketing and business, and quantity food systems administration.
- Community Nutrition-The community nutrition curriculum includes advanced coursework in community health, health education, research methods, and community nutrition.
Our nutrition and food science majors are able to successfully support the profession through their many – and varied – careers in healthcare, community wellness, school nutrition, and food companies.
As one of the few universities with nutrition and food science majors, the undergraduate degree program at Georgia Southern University provides you with excellent faculty with diverse field and research experience and unique student opportunities.
You may also minor in nutrition and food science.
