Hartley Named Legislative Director for GANS
Elizabeth Hartley, a junior 1 nursing student at Georgia Southern University, has been named the legislative director for the Georgia Association of Nursing Students (GANS). GANS, the Georgia branch of the National Student Nurses’ Association, aims to provide resources and opportunities to nursing students to promote educational and professional development. Prior to her current role, Hartley served as the assistant to the executive board and is an active member of the local chapter, Student Nurses’ Association (SNA), at Georgia Southern where she serves as the outreach coordinator.
“As the legislative director for GANS, I am able to serve as a link for students not only at Georgia Southern but also students from around the state to connect with officials at the state or national level,” stated Hartley.
As legislative director, Hartley will be responsible for submitting resolutions from the State Executive Board to the House of Delegates at the 66th Annual Convention, coordinate the annual Political Involvement Award, review and make recommendations for changes in the bylaws and policies, and be familiar with parliamentary procedures and credentialing for the annual convention.
The School of Nursing is housed in the Waters College of Health Professions and is fully accredited by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. For more information on nursing programs at Georgia Southern, visit chp.georgiasouthern.edu/nursing/programs.
