Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Curriculum

Students may “opt out” after the final Acute Care course and receive their MSN degree in order to be eligible to sit for their national certification exam. If students choose this option, they will have 4 years to return and complete the remaining DNP courses for the DNP Degree.

Both synchronous (live, real-time) and asynchronous (on your own, not live) formats are used. Most of the course work is asynchronous but live sessions are scheduled in selected online courses. Students should consult with individual course syllabi for specific live session requirements.

Educational Statistics I

Applied Qualitative Research Methods
This course will provide practical experience applying qualitative research methods in a variety of settings. (pre req - EDUR 7130)
Applied Measurement
This course will provide an introduction to concepts and practices in measurement and survey research. (pre req- EDUR 7130 & 8131)
Higher Education Law
Explores basic legal precepts and their application to institutions of higher education, primarily using the case study method and discussion.
Higher Education Finance
Fiscal management and budgeting practices applicable to higher education institutions are the focus of this course.
Grant Development / Administration
Students will learn the methods and processes of project development, funding source development, and proposal writing.
Educational Planning
This course examines concepts and theories relating to various forms and approaches of planning at the school district and postsecondary educational levels.

This course examines statistics in public health and related health sciences.
Scientific Basis of Public Health
This course explores the scientific basis of 21st century disease processes including a survey of the origins, natural history, factors influencing individual and community risk.
Public Health Perspectives in Community-Based and Translational Research
This course will familiarize students with concepts, issues and skills relevant to translational research approaches in public health.
Professionalism and Ethics in Public Health Practice
This course explores critical issues related to the professional development of public health practitioners and ethical responsibilities necessary to assume leadership roles in the field.
