School of Nursing Scholarship Opportunities & Criteria
Students must submit their Application for Admission to Georgia Southern University to access the Scholarship Application portal. The Scholarship Application portal can be completed as part of the Application for Admission, or it can be submitted separately after applying for admission.
Scholarship Opportunities
ABBIE DELOACH MEMORIAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
- Enrolled in the Traditional BSN program
- Full time study is required (minimum of 12 credits)
- Award based on GPA & financial need
ABBIE LORENE DELOACH MEMORIAL NURSING/KAPPA DELTA SCHOLARSHIP
- Full-time study is required (minimum of 12 credits)
- Four scholarship will be awarded each year
- Two recipients annually must be active members of Kappa Delta Sorority at Georgia Southern
- Two recipients annually must have a current permanent residence in the Savannah area (Chatham or surrounding counties)
ALBERT DEAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
- Full time study is required (minimum of 12 credits).
- Award based on GPA & financial need.
AUXILIARY OF EAST GEORGIA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
Auxiliary of East Georgia Regional Medical Center sponsors four (4) full-year scholarships in the amount of $2,000.00 each. Recipients receive $1,000.00 Fall Semester and same recipients receive $1,000.00 Spring Semester.
- Recipients must be enrolled in the Prelicensure Nursing Program.
- Recipients must be either a Junior II or Senior I.
- Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Recipients must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours.)
- First preference given to Bulloch County residents who have graduated from a high school in Bulloch County or have maintained residency in Bulloch County for five years prior to being accepted into the School of Nursing Program to obtain a BSN degree at Georgia Southern University.
- If, in a given year, Bulloch County residents are not found, scholarships may be designated to residents who have graduated from a high school in any of the following surrounding counties or have maintained residency in any of these counties for five years prior to being accepted into the School of Nursing Program to obtain a BSN degree at Georgia Southern University: Bryan, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins, Screven, Tattnall or Toombs.

- Full-time study is required (minimum of 5 credits)
- Enrolled in the graduate nursing program
BHATIA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: NURSING

LETTIE PATE WHITEHEAD SCHOLARSHIP
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is a charitable, private foundation dedicated to the educational support of needy women. The foundation has provided a scholarship grant to Georgia Southern University for deserving female students accepted into Georgia Southern School of Nursing.
- Applicant must be formally admitted into the BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, or DNP Program
- Applicant must be female
- Applicant must have demonstrated financial need
- Applicant must be a legal resident of one of the following southeastern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia

- Full-time study is required (minimum of 12 credits)
- Must express an interest in gerontology nursing
- 4 awards are given annually: 2 students enrolled on the Statesboro Campus and 2 students enrolled on the Armstrong Campus

WINIFRED CASE KARNOSKY NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
- Enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program (BSN/RN-BSN/LPN-BSN/ABSN)
- Must be enrolled on the Armstrong or Liberty Campuses
- Must be a US citizen

Graduate Traineeship/Stipend Opportunities
ADVANCE NURSING EDUCATION WORKFORCE TRAINEESHIP
- Applicant must be seeking Nurse Practitioner Education
- Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student (5 graduate credits per semester)
- Traineeship money is available for part-time status if in the final semester of program
- Applicant must work or live in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA)
- Applicant must be able to complete clinical requirements in undeserved area
- A call for applications will be provided on behalf of the graduate program director, with a deadline for submission
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH WORKFORCE EDUCATION AND TRAINING (BHWET) STIPEND
- Students selected for stipends must be full-time BSN-DNP students in the PMHNP track
- Students must complete all clinicals at the Community Service Board (CSB), Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC), or individually approved site in the state of Georgia
- Students must agree to strongly consider and pursue employment in an FQHC or CSB after graduation
- One semester before qualifying students begin the PMHNP track, they are notified of eligibility and given further information about securing stipend money. All qualifying students are notified three months in advance of funding so they can make arrangements with qualifying preceptor sites.
