Healthcare Study Abroad in Italy

Take your nursing elective in Italy!

The Italy Study Abroad Program is an 11 day study tour that will provide students with an opportunity to meet with Italian health care providers and educators, tour healthcare facilities, and experience the Italian culture and cuisine. The program is designed for students to receive three credits in undergraduate NURS 4126 (nursing core elective) and/or up to three credits in HLPR 2010 (Area B general core). Students will explore health promotion, disease prevention, complementary therapies, and cultural issues. The curriculum includes visits to important historic and cultural sites and explores the impact of culture, technology and religion on health and health care as well as social, lifestyle and ethical issues related to global health

This is a study abroad experience you do not want to miss. The trip is led current Georgia Southern nursing faculty. You will eat, sleep and travel Italy for 11 days. The group will fly into Rome and over three days, visit the Vatican Museum, St Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and may other sites. The group will then travel by train to Verona for the remainder of the trip. While in Verona, students will visit a nursing school and talk to students and faculty, tour the Borgo Trento Hospital with nurses and hospitalists, have a lecture at a Pet Therapy Lab and visit the emergency center of the Green Cross. From Verona there will be day trips to Florence and Venice, as well as a sailing adventure on Lake Garda with an Italian picnic.

Program Cost:

$4,200.00
Includes: Round-trip airfare to the Italy; All regional and local transportation; lodging for the duration of the program; some lunches; tour and excursion fees; and a medical travel insurance plan.

Additional Costs: Meals and food not covered by program; incidental and personal expenses.
