PT Club Named Most Successful Newcomer
Georgia Southern University’s Physical Therapy Club has been named the “Most Successful PT Newcomer” for their fundraising efforts toward physical therapy research.
This past academic year, more than 150 schools joined forces to participate in the 31st annual Marquette Challenge and raised $266,019. The challenge is a student-led fundraiser to benefit the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research.
Top fundraising schools and special awards were announced on June 13, 2019, at the Foundation’s Award Luncheon held during the 2019 American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) NEXT Conference and Exposition in Chicago. At this time, Georgia Southern was recognized for their efforts.
James Karnes, PT, Ph.D., Physical Therapy program coordinator and associate professor, noted the Physical Therapy Club has been in existence on the Armstrong Campus since 1995, but this was the first year they have participated in the challenge.
