Stand Up to Parkinson’s
Over one million people in the United States live with Parkinson’s disease, a nervous system disorder that affects movement. To raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) Global in collaboration with Neuro Heroes, Rock Steady Boxing, Uturn Parkinson’s and PD Avengers challenged individuals around the world to participate in the Sit 2 Stand Challenge on April 11. LSTV Global asked individuals to count their sit to stands completed on April 11 with a goal in the United States of reaching one million sit to stands in the 24 hour period to represent those in the United States living with Parkinson’s disease.
Georgia Southern University’s RiteCare Center for Communication Disorders accepted the challenge and on April 11, communication sciences and disorders graduate students as well as clinical instructors, contributed over 1,713 sit to stands toward the goal.
