Interests

Karnes began teaching in Georgia Southern University DPT program in 2016 after spending 26 years teaching physical therapy students at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, and 17 years teaching physical therapy, medical and dental students at the University at Buffalo.  He has over 30 years of clinical experience in various settings, including outpatient orthopedics and most recently home health. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Physical Therapy Association of Georgia and the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy.

Karnes teaches in the 2-semester human gross anatomy sequence, as well as in the  neuroanatomy/neurophysiology course. His research interests include community-based topics in geriatrics, especially those involving falls prevention.
