WCHP Scholarships
McDilda-Holland Endowment

Scholarship is to be awarded to students conducting study or research in the area of alcohol or drug prevention and/or rehabilitation. $1,200


Hospital Authority of Bulloch County

Students must be from Bulloch County and are majoring in a health related program of study. $800


Jennifer McLaughlin Scholarship

The Jennifer McLaughlin Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who are health care majors within the College and demonstrate excellence in advocating for or assisting a patient through challenging health care experience. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Amount varies each year


Joseph A. and Marilyn M. Buck Leadership Endowment

The Joseph A. and Marilyn M. Buck Leadership Endowment is awarded to an undergraduate student who have a declared major in the Waters College of Health Professions. The student must show exemplary character and leadership qualities and be enrolled full-time with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. Amount varies each year.


Phyllis R. Schmidt Scholarship

The Phyllis R. Schmidt Scholarship is awarded to a raising junior or senior student enrolled in a program in the Waters College of Health Professions with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to applicants with unmet financial need. Amount varies each year.


School of Nursing Scholarships
Curtis G. Hames Nursing Scholarship

Applicants must be residents of Georgia, whose home address is within the 43-county East Georgia Area. Applicants must be majoring in Nursing and enrolled full-time with a C Average or better. $1,000


Albert Deal Nursing Scholarship

Criteria for determining eligibility include the applicant’s academic record, personal character and demonstrated talents. The scholarship is open to full-time students who are enrolled in the Georgia Southern University nursing program. $2,200


Marguerite Marie “Pearl” Wiesenfeld Scholarship

Criteria for determining the eligibility for the scholarship will be the applicant’s academic record and will be open to full-time Georgia Southern University nursing students. $650


Abbie Deloach Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the Traditional BSN program. Award is based on GPA and financial need.


Joe W. Franklin and Bertha D. Franklin Memorial Scholarship

The Joe W. Franklin and Bertha D. Franklin Memorial Scholarship was established in 2001. Individuals
applying for the Joe W. Franklin and Bertha D. Franklin Memorial Scholarship must be residents of Georgia, majoring in Nursing and must have and maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher. The recipient may be in the undergraduate or graduate program. $850


Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship

The Lettie Pate Whitehead scholarship is funded annually by the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation. The scholarship is for deserving Christian young women who are nursing majors. Recipients should be residents of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia. Award varies.


Auxiliary East Georgia Regional Scholarship

First preference will be given to a Bulloch County resident who has graduated from a high school in Bulloch County or who has maintained residency in Bulloch County for five years prior to being accepted into the School of Nursing to obtain a BSN degree at Georgia Southern University.

If, in a given year, a Bulloch County resident is not found, the Auxiliary of East Georgia Regional Medical Nursing Scholarship may be designated to a resident who has graduated from a high school in any of the following surrounding counties or who has maintained residency in any of these counties for five years prior to being accepted into the School of Nursing to obtain a BSN degree at Georgia Southern University: Bryan, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins, Screven, Tattnall, or Toombs.

  • Recipients must be enrolled in the pre-licensure Nursing program
  • Recipients must be either a Junior II or Senior I
  • Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Recipients must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours)

(3) Full Year Scholarships $2,000 each– Each recipient will receive $1,000 fall semester and $1,000 spring semester


Abbie Lorene Deloach Memorial Nursing/Kappa Delta Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours). A total of four scholarships will be awarded each year with two of the scholarships being awarded annually to recipients who have a current permanent residence in the Savannah area (Chatham or surrounding counties) and two scholarships being awarded annually to active members of Kappa Delta Sorority at Georgia Southern.


Caitlyn Baggett Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the Traditional BSN program. Award is based on GPA and financial need.


Catherine McKay Pittman Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the Traditional BSN program. Award is based on GPA and financial need.


Emily Clark Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the Traditional BSN program. Award is based on GPA and financial need.


Gwen Kicklighter Butler Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to students admitted into the School of Nursing. Applicant must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. Applicant must demonstrate a financial need.


Kathryn Burton Olliff Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours). Award is based on GPA and financial need.


Morgan Bass Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to students enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the Traditional BSN program. Award is based on GPA and financial need.


Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology Scholarships
Aimee Gunnoe Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a senior Athletic Training major to help offset the cost of their certification exam. The scholarship is named in honor of Aimee Gunnoe, former clinical athletic training faculty member killed in an automobile accident in April 2002. Amount varies each year

Department of Rehabilitation Sciences Scholarships
Thomas Spencer McCormick Presidential Scholarship

The Thomas Spencer McCormick Presidential Scholarship was founded in 2006 by Mrs. Jeanne McCormick in memory of her late husband, Thomas McCormick. Mr. McCormick was a client at the RiteCare Center following a stroke in 2004, until his passing in October 2005. This scholarship endowed in his memory is awarded to two graduate students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program each spring based on academic/clinical merit and financial need.


Donna R. Brooks Endowment

The Donna R. Brooks Endowment is awarded to an undergraduate, full-time student majoring in communication sciences and disorders (CSD). The student must be a graduate of a public high school within the GA counties of Chatham, Effingham, Byran, Liberty, Tattnall or Toombs. The student must have minimum GPA of 3.0 and unmet financial need equal to or greater than the scholarship amount. To be eligible, the student may not have received this scholarship previously. Amount varies each year. 



Hammond for Hope Scholarship II

The Hammond for Hope Scholarship II is awarded for the purpose of providing financial assistance to one graduate student enrolled int he Communication Sciences and Disorders program. Amount: $5,000 per year 



Morris Slotin Physical Therapy Scholarship

The Morris Slotin Physical Therapy Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the Physical Therapy program and entering a the field of physical therapy as a second career. The student must demonstrate outstanding performance in the academic and clinical curriculum. Amount varies each year. 


Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Sciences Scholarships
Donald Starr Radiography Scholarship

The Donald Starr Radiography Scholarship is awarded to students in the radiography concentration each year. Amount: $250-$1,000 based on need


Sharyn D. Gibson Memorial Scholarship

The Sharyn D. Gibson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a senior student admitted to any of the programs in the Radiologic Sciences program. Student must be in good standing and submit a document to the Department of Radiologic Sciences Scholarship Committee. The committee will forward recommendations to the University Scholarship Committee. Amount varies each year.


Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students (SDS)

The Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) program provides scholarships to full-time, financially needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and students enrolled in selected health professions programs.


Cynthia Howard Scholarship

The Cynthia Howard Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate junior or senior students majoring in respiratory therapy who conduct research on interstital lung diseases or pulmonary fibrotic disease. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Amount varies each year.
