Undergraduate Exercise Science Experiential Learning
Undergraduate students from the Exercise Science program participate in hands-on learning sessions. throughout their study. Students are provided the opportunity to observe current worksite wellness programming for fire departments and police departments. Students are given the opportunity to gear up and experience mock field demonstrations with both fire departments and police departments.
Graduate Student Hands-On Learning
Selected graduate students work as assistants with the Tactical Athlete Initiative. Under the advisement of faculty mentors, students are responsible for the wellness programming for our tactical community partners including injury prevention, exercise sessions, mobility clinics and rehabilitation. Graduate students aid in annual health and fitness testing for police departments.
Research
The faculty research team is composed of faculty in the Waters College of Health Professions, the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, and the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health. The faculty work in a collaborative effort to take on health and wellness in a holistic approach by implementing programming, presenting and publishing research, and preparing grants geared toward improving the health of our first responders.

Firefighter Recruit Training
The Firefighter Recruit Training is a preparatory program established to prepare firefighters for the demands of their job.
Worksite Wellness Programming
Teams of faculty and students assist our tactical community partners to create a maintain worksite wellness programming. Programming includes Friday Fire Fitness, Wellness Wednesday, Movement Breaks for Dispatch and Athletic Training Services.
